The Big Deal About Salvation

The word “salvation” is commonplace in Christian circles and there have been so many diverse postulations and theories about what it entails.

So what is salvation? It means to save, to deliver to set free, to preserve.

Hebrews 2:3 (KJV) says; How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

The verse seems to point out that this salvation is a big deal and seems to pose a conundrum that we would be hopeless without this salvation.

I’m sure you may be questioning why you need this salvation or be saved you’re obviously not in any form of visible bondage or under some sort of dominion, it’s a free world after all.

Romans 6:16 (KJV): Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

Bang!

The New Living Translation (NLT) puts it this way: Don’t you realise that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God which leads to righteous living.

The Amplified Version (AMP) expounds it this way: Do you not know that when you continually offer yourselves to someone to do his will, you are the slaves of the one whom you obey, either [slaves] of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness (right standing with God)?

So, this points out that we (everybody) are in some sort of bondage. You sometimes find yourself doing things you know are wrong, that hurts you, that hurts others, but it seems like you can’t stop doing
them. Bondage!

Due to some sort of medical conditions, you can’t eat certain foods, you can’t do certain jobs, you can’t move freely or even move at all, you must take some sort of medication at some specific times. You can’t make ends meet. Debts lining up left, right and centre. Bondage!

The awesome thing about this salvation is that it not only saves from sin (evil deeds, bad acts, etc.) it delivers you from sickness and frees you from the bond of poverty.

Isaiah 53:4,5 (KJV); Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for
our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

The Message Version (MSG) puts it this way; But the fact is, it was our pains he carried-our disfigurements, all things wrong with us. We thought he brought it on himself, that God was punishing him for his own failures. But it was our sins that did that to him, that ripped and tore and crushed him-our sins! He took the punishment that made us whole. Through his bruises we are healed.

So who’s this guy that Isaiah is referring to here? The guy that has borne all these punishments?

Acts 4:10-12 (KJV) Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this manstand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become
the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

1 Thessalonians 5:9 (KJV) For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ!

So if this man Jesus Christ has made this salvation available. Who is entitled to be saved? What does anybody have to do to be saved?

To answer these questions has to who can be saved. We look at the following references;

1 Timothy 2:3,4 (KJV) For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

1 John 2:1,2 (KJV) My little children, these things I write unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

John 3:14-17 (KJV) And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have
everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but the world through him might be saved.

Romans 10:13 (KJV) For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

There is no distinction has to who can be saved. The references used the word all, whole world andwhosoever. No matter who you are, what you have done, your skin colour, your country, yourupbringing you can be saved! No one is passed saving! You can be saved!

How do you get saved?

Romans 10:9 (KJV) That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in thyheart that God has raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Simple! Too simple right? That’s why it is called the good news - the ‘too good to be true’ news.

So what you’ve got to do wherever you are now is just to say out loud, “Jesus, I confess that You are my Lord and Saviour. I believe in my heart that God raised You from the dead. I receive salvation now.Thank You for saving me!”

Now you’re a brand new person. Contact me and let me know that you have prayed to receive salvation.
